4.6 Points

So, as many of you know I have been in a fantasy football league now for 13 years this year.  I have won the super bowl twice and this year for the first time, I lost.  By 4.6 points.  That smarts.  Why?  Well, I sent my line up in on Thursday of last week - Saturday, I decided to change the defence I had.  My BIG mistake.  If I had left the Tampa Bay defence in I would have won the game and last night's poor performance by Philadelphia's team would not have mattered.

Now, don't get me wrong LeShaun McCoy had a fantastic game; if he were an offensive lineman.  But, he is not!  He is a running back that did more blocking last night than most of the offensive line put together!  This does not help me win my game!  I was down by 10 points going into the game.  McCoy has never, all season, scored less than that for me.  Until last night.  Ugh.  Oh well, there is always next year and it is all for fun anyway!  (Okay and a little money!)  I was still division champ and I think we changed the rules that says just because I made it to the big show I get some monies.  I don't remember.  I am not ashamed of a 10-3 regular season and there is always next year.

Attempts to Blog

I am not sure if it is because of the new year approaching or just the need to become trendy, but I am going to start doing this blog thing.   I sound so old when I call it a blog thing but...what the heck.  Most days I feel too old!  I am sitting here at work thinking about all the things I have to do and the only thing that comes to mind is to be creative and start a blog!

Everyone was asking how my Christmas was and I am at a loss to say how it truely was.  Not to offend any relatives that may decide to read this but I am very thankful I have relatives to spend the holidays with even if typically they annoy the crap out of me!  I could not imagine not having any of them around.

This year we did things a little different.  Christmas Eve was pretty typical, spending it with my aunts and my parents (my dad's sisters).   There was a small twist in the evening when my aunt's neighbor's thought I was breaking into my aunt's house and called the Sturtevant police on me...Needless to say, all is straighten out and I did no jail time.

It was Christmas Day that was different and actually fun.  It started out with lunch (I made a mean chili!) at my Grandma Rose's apartment.  Just Mom, Dad, Grandma and me.  Other than the fact that he house is about 500 degrees Fahrenheit, it was nice to have one on one time with Grandma.

We traveled from there to my Mom's youngest sister Kay's house.  We got to spend about an hour there (with Grandma Rose in tow).  Again, the time with just Kay, her husband Johnny & their son Justin was nice.  We actually had conversations.  I did learn that sometimes, my Grandma Rose's mouth doesn't think before it combines words like, "Fudge," and "Shucks".  Grandma's dropping the F Bombs on Christmas make for very funny stories!  Well, we thought it was funny, Grandma?  She pretty much was really embarrassed.

Of course, after all the laughter, the story followed with us to my mom's next youngest sister Lee Ann's house.   I was hoping to get to see my little cousin's David & Olli but they had made a quick appearance before we got there and were on there way somewhere else.  Time with Dan & Josie is always well spent.  Always full of laughter.  Tom & Lee Ann as well.

To cap off the relative portion of the day we ended at my Aunt Ruth's house.  My Aunt Ruth is an awesome cook.  She fed us well.  She always does.  Ham, shredded beef and cookies...lots of cookies!  And fudge.  Did I mention the fudge?  I am out at home by the way....Hint Hint.

While we were all busy feeding our faces and chatting up a storm a weird lake effect snow hit Racine.  Ten inches I think was the final measure.  It was beautiful white fluffy stuff.  Easy enough to brush off, wet enough to cause a chill when it fell on the nape of your neck (because of course, I wasn't wearing a coat!).   Snow not effecting a true Wisconsinite, I headed to the South Side of Racine to meet a few friends for some Christmas cheer.  True Wisconsinite or not, I wasn't sure what the snow was like at home (45 minutes away) so decided to call it an early night and head home.  Five minutes being on the road in 8-10inches of snow and suddenly, there was no snow!  Hence the phrase above, "weird lake effect storm".  Decided heading home was still a good idea so continued on my merry way.

The day after Christmas came to fast, lasted to short of a time and well, basically I think I was in a cookie stooper most of the day!

There you have it.  My Christmas weekend in a nutshell.

The blogs may get better, they may get worse.  Hang around if you want to find out!

Until then - have a great day!
